The original converter regulator spring allows apply pressure to reach 180 psi in drive, and allows release pressure to reach 225 psi in reverse.
Correction:
The Sonnax spring has less force, which reduces release pressure in reverse, and regulates the apply pressure 150 psi in drive.
The converter regulator valve spring controls converter apply pressure, which can go as high a 180 psi in drive and 225 psi of release in reverse at maximum line pressure in VW 01M, 01N and 01P units. This forces the converter turbine hub thrust washer to grind into the hub and stator. TCC slip codes also can result from excessive pressure.
